THE SERENGETI

It takes around two hours to drive from The Plantation Lodge to the southern outreaches of the Serengeti. A flight from nearby Manyara Airport is available to those wishing to travel to the central Serengeti region or to the northern regions close to the border with Kenya. The Serengeti is one of the world’s largest conservation areas for wild animals. Every year, a unique spectacle of nature takes place here: migration. Some two million animals migrate between Tanzania and southwestern Kenya in search of water and pastureland: aside from zebras and antelope, these are primarily wildebeest. For many visitors, observing these enormous herds traversing the vast and endless savannah landscape, or crossing rivers, ranks among the most fascinating of all safari experiences.
