TARANGIRE
NATIONAL PARK

Tarangire National Park can be reached from The Plantation Lodge in an hour-and-a-half by car. The Tarangire River is its source of life. It carries water throughout the year and, particularly during the dry season, attracts many animals. Grassland and tree savanna spread out from the river on both sides. The spreading crowns of the umbrella thorn acacias and the mighty baobabs are conspicuous features of the wide landscape. Innumerable animal species share this area, including buffalo, many types of antelope, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, hyenas and some 3,000 elephants.
